Father of  Wendy  Nursing Student Demands Justice, Says "Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied

The father of late Wendy Achumba, a nursing student at the College of Nursing, Umuadara, Obowo, Imo State, has called for swift justice following the tragic death of his daughter.

Speaking on the incident, Elder Jera Achumba lamented the circumstances surrounding Wendy's death, insisting that those responsible must be brought to justice without delay.

According to the grieving father, his daughter had allegedly rejected the advances of a local vulcanizer identified as Onyema Okonkwo before the incident occurred. He claimed that the suspect, alongside others, was linked to the events that led to her death.

Wendy Achumba, an indigene of Abia State, was a student of the College of Nursing located in Umuadara village, Umulogho Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State. Reports indicate that she had successfully completed her midwifery programme and was undergoing post-basic nursing training at the institution before her untimely death.

The family alleges that the suspect and his accomplices traced Wendy to her lodge, where she was attacked. They further claim that the attack was connected to her refusal of a romantic relationship. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has generated widespread outrage among students, residents, and human rights advocates, with many demanding a thorough investigation and prosecution of anyone found culpable.

Elder Achumba urged law enforcement agencies and the judiciary not to allow the case to be forgotten, stressing that justice for Wendy would serve as a deterrent against violence targeting women and young people.

"Justice delayed is justice denied," he said, calling on the authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

As investigations continue, members of the public have joined the family in demanding justice for the late nursing student, whose death has left colleagues, friends, and relatives in mourning.
