 Tinubu Wins APC Presidential Primary in Abia With Over 161,000 Votes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election conducted in Abia State after polling 161,005 votes across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Announcing the result, the State Collection Officer for the exercise, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, said the exercise was peacefully conducted across the state.

According to the results declared, Tinubu recorded massive victories in all the local government areas, while fellow aspirant Stanley Osifo secured votes in a few councils.

The breakdown showed that Tinubu polled 9,215 votes in Aba North, 6,486 in Aba South, 8,471 in Arochukwu, 39,826 in Bende, and 8,902 in Ikwuano, where Stanley Osifo scored 40 votes.

In Isiala Ngwa North, Tinubu secured 11,298 votes against Osifo’s 181 votes, while in Isiala Ngwa South, the President polled 7,609 votes as Osifo got 78 votes.

Further results showed that Tinubu scored 3,310 votes in Isuikwuato, 7,630 in Obingwa, 11,461 in Ohafia, 4,257 in Ugwunagbo, 6,634 in Ukwa East, and 2,628 in Ukwa West, where Osifo polled 54 votes.

In Umuahia North, Tinubu secured 14,943 votes against Osifo’s 116 votes, while in Umuahia South, the President polled 5,077 votes as Osifo scored 84 votes.

The results also showed that Tinubu got 6,734 votes in Osisioma and 6,545 votes in Umunneochi, while Osifo secured 69 and 41 votes respectively.

Declaring the final outcome, Benjamin Kalu said the total number of registered APC members in the state stood at 162,109, while accredited voters were 162,084.

He added that a total of 162,002 vote cards were used during the exercise.

“At the end of the voting exercise, aspirant Stanley Osifo scored 1,007 votes, while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 161,005 votes in Abia State,” Kalu declared.

He subsequently announced Tinubu as the winner of the APC presidential primary election conducted in the state.

The deputy speaker while congratulating the party stakeholders, said he expect other states will turn a good result like Abia for Mr president to continue his job.

He thanked security agents, INEC officials who witnessed the process from beginning to the end were also commended for ensuring transparency and credibility during the exercise.

The State Collection Officer, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, equally appreciated members of the committee from Abuja who monitored the entire process of the presidential primary election in Abia State.

He thanked party stakeholders, electoral officials and delegates for their orderly conduct throughout the exercise, noting that the peaceful atmosphere recorded during the primary reflected the unity and strength of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Mr Ejiofor Emeje, the head of the presidential monitoring team, INEC officials, the commissioner of police CP Danladi Isa were also present during the declaration.
