Chef Rita Nnagbogu sets to break Guinness World Record in Asaba Nigerian chef, Rita Nnagbogu Ifeyinwa, is gearing up for a record-breaking culinary feat as she plans to cook the biggest pot of Ukodo and beans next week in Asaba, Delta State. According to reports, a philanthropist has pledged ₦20 million in support of the attempt, which is aimed at securing a spot in the Guinness World Records. The event is expected to draw food lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and supporters eager to witness history being made, as Ukodo (yam pepper soup) and beans remain staple delicacies in Nigerian cuisine. If successful, Chef Rita will join the growing list of Nigerians who have made their mark on the global stage through unique record-breaking achievements  

  The Rector of Dr. Ogbonna Onu Polytechnic, Abia State, Dr. Christopher Okoro, has announced that the institution will no longer issue statements of results to its graduates. Speaking on the new policy, Dr. Okoro explained that the decision was taken to strengthen the credibility of the Polytechnic’s academic records and eliminate abuses associated with interim result statements. He stated that once a student has fully completed all requirements  including academic obligations, departmental clearance, and payment of fees  the institution will immediately release the official results and certificates.  Owerri-Onitsha Road Accident: CP Danjuma Orders Comprehensive Investigation. Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, has called for a comprehensive investigation into the fatal accident involving a gas truck and a coaster bus at Awo-Omamma, along the Owerri–Onitsha Road, on Sunday. Southeastposts gathered that the crash claimed the lives of 12 passengers, including children, who were members of the Deeper Life Bible Church returning from a church programme. Meanwhile, speaking during an on-the-spot assessment of the scene, Danjuma expressed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, who are receiving treatment in a nearby hospital.

 Party Registration: INEC Clears ADA, ANC, 12 Others for Next Stage The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Thursday cleared 14 political associations to proceed to the next stage in their bids to be registered as political parties. INEC national commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Sam Olumekun disclosed this in a statement on Thursday evening.   FG revokes 5% telecom tax on voice, data services The Federal Government has scrapped the 5% excise duty tax previously imposed on telecommunications services, including voice calls and data usage. The National Orientation Agency made this known in a post via its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday. The post said the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu ordered the removal of the tax during discussions on the recently passed Finance Act. The NCC boss noted that the move is expected to ease cost pressures for millions of mobile users in the country. Maida added that the President’s intervention was aimed at preventing additional financial strain on citizens while supporting the digital economy.

Land owners from Umuezenta, Umuelenwa and Okpuala all in Umuomainta Mbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia State, on Thursday, gave Abia State Government 7 days ultimatum to revisit the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), pay proper compensation to owners. Converging at Umuomainta on Thursday, the land owners once again accused the Abia State Government of grabbing their lands, decrying that proper compensation was yet to be carried out by the state government despite announcements on various medium of communication. The landowners mostly farmers, said it was unfortunate that despite clearing their farm lands harbouring farm products, the government was yet to pay them their due benefits, stressing that this was in contrast to what obtains in other places where the government is supposed to pay full compensation before commencing work.
